Stores

Most of these are on-line stores, but I have listed two hobby shops in Little Rock, AR, and two in West Monroe, LA.

AJCKIDS

Brooklyn Locomotive Works  Not much Z scale here, but it's where I got my "12 Days of Christmas" locomotive, caboose and some of the boxcars.

Euro Rail Hobbies These folks get stuff out to you in a timely manner. However, if you like to compare prices and if you like to know what something is going to cost you, you might want to look elsewhere. Euro Rail Hobbies is located in Canada, so prices quoted in US dollars are only approximate, and they don't tell you what your "actual shipping cost" will be, although you can request an estimate. So you won't know what you've really paid until you get your credit card bill. And they have a minimum order of $40, so you may have to order some things that you really don't need just to get the
item(s) that you want. I ordered the Marklin "Track Planning Game" - $29.62: below the minimum order amount. So I ordered a Marklin Arched Bridge - $13.51 - in hopes that I might need one someday. My total was $43.13. When I got my credit card statement, I discovered that I had been charged an additional $11.53, plus a "finance charge" by the credit card company because I'd made a "foreign transaction." Surprise! Surprise!

Global Train Supplies

Helmuts Hobby Specialties

Hobby Lobby (200 Blanchard Drive, West Monroe, LA. Besides paint and other arts and crafts stuff, Hobby Lobby has a pretty good selection of Woodland Scenics supplies. To get there, get off of I20 at the Thomas Road exit and come north - Get into the left lane as soon as possible because you want to turn left at the first traffic light you come to, and that's not very far down the road!

HobbyTown USA (9101 W. Markham St., Little Rock, AR) This hobby store has trains, but no Z scale items when I was there. However, they had a very good selection of Woodland Scenics supplies and tools for making layouts, as well as some books and magazines. You can also shop on-line.

HobbyTown USA (107 Bridge St., West Monroe, LA) This is a great store, a real old-fashioned hobby shop. They've moved from their former position around the corner on Trenton. (Bridge Street is the short stretch of road connecting the junction of Stella and Mills Streets in West Monroe with Louisville Avenue across the river in Monroe.)

Norm's Train World  Norm is a friendly, helpful guy.  I've bought a number of my trains from him, but check out my Buyer Be Aware page before you make up your mind to buy there.

One Track Mind (10524 Helm Drive, Little Rock, AR) The store is south of I30, but you've got to stay on the north side to find an overpass to get there. I got there twice, each time by a different route (not on purpose)! It may not be easy to find, but it's a neat store. They have very little Z scale stuff - I could have held it all in my two hands. They do have a selection of Woodland Scenics supplies, as well as a lot of books and magazines. But they are located right next to the train track, so if you spend any time at all there you'll probably be treated to two or three trains going by.

Reynauld's These folks have trains and layout items from a lot of manufacturers. They get stuff sent out to you in a timely manner too.

Train Sets Only

Walthers Model Railroad Mall Please note that Walthers carries most, if not all and more, of the things that you might find of interest. Their prices may not be the lowest available, but they do pretty much provide a "one site fits all" source. Unfortunately, I have not found their web site to be the easiest place on the web to find things. Try clicking on the "SHOP" button at the top of the page and selecting an appropriate category and scale for your search. Don't be surprised if there is no picture of something that you'd like to take a look at. Instead of their web site, I'd recommend that you get a copy of their "2011 N&Z Model Railroad Reference Book" (catalog) - $15.98 at their web site, probably less elsewhere (you might find it on eBay.)

Woodland Scenics Landscaping and accessories

Z.Scale.Hobo Stuff gets sent out in a timely manner, and Frank, the "Z Scale Hobo," answers questions when you have them.

Zscale Monster Trains  Friendly, helpful folks. If you have any problems, e-mail them and Anthony will make things right!
