Dolly's Diner

Dolly's Diner

Marklin Z Scale Kit # 2642K
Classic American Building Kit Series II

Dolly's Diner is a laser-cut wood kit. Several pieces were backed with adhesive so that a protective sheet of paper just needed to be peeled off and the piece pressed into position. The kit also came with a sheet of dry peel-and-stick decals to cut out for the signs.

Because the kit is wood, I could use acrylic paints.  I painted the inside and outside of the diner building and the top of the roof prior to removing them from the sheet. The "porches" and hand rails at the end of the building were easier to paint after removing them from the sheet. I left the windows, doors, and corner trim natural wood.

I rolled the roof around the handle of my X-Acto Knife.  It was made peel-and-stick to hold it on, but the instructions suggested that it also be glued from the inside to keep it from popping off, so I ran a bead of glue around the inside of the diner. Dolly's Diner assembled
