The Valley Landscaping - The Town

The road is to come up near the sheriff's office at the northern end of the town, circle around past the buildings, and finally exit the southern end just past the saloon.

There should be a sidewalk in front of all the buildings, but only some came with one. So I used some of wood scraps from the kits to create a sidewalk for the sheriff's office and increased the length of the one in front of the blacksmith shop. I cut pieces of printer paper to fit the footprints of the buildings plus the added sidewalks and then glued the buildings and sidewalks to the paper.

The brothel was the only metal building, and I like to put a floor on these, so I cut out a piece of the cardboard that stiffens the building-kit bags to fit the footprint of the brothel, plus enough for the sidewalk, and glued the building to it.

I glued all the buildings into position onto the foam.

The sidewalk is only continuous between the hotel and the blacksmith shop. I painted in a layer of Woodland Scenics Scenic Cement in the discontinuous spots and sprinkled on a layer of Light Gray Fine Ballast. The picture above shows the sidewalks before the excess ballast is dumped off.

I spread more of the wetted Foam Putty around the town to provide some landscaping and texture

A layer was also spread over the street. I cut the end off of one of the emery boards to give a flat tool about a half-inch wide. I used this tool to grade the street in front of the buildings.

I used my finger as well as the "road grader" tool to level and put some streaks into the Foam Putty behind the brothel and blacksmith shop. I want to plant a cornfield there.
