Calvin and Hobbes - My favorite cartoon. It's no longer in the papers, but each day they had been posting to the Web the strip from eleven years before. They finished the first run on 31 December 2006 and began back at "square one" in 2007. It was then that I discovered a mystery about the cartoon.

To confirm that 31 December 2006 was indeed the final strip of the series, I consulted my three-volume "The Complete Calvin and Hobbes" set.  Yes, it was the last strip of the series.  But looking in the book I noticed that the comic, a Sunday cartoon, was different in the book than on-line!  I looked at several other Sunday cartoons and discovered the same thing - the book and the on-line strip had different cartoons on Sunday.  I can't say that this is true for every Sunday, just for the ones that I compared.

I've e-mailed tech support at the GoComics web site, a couple of folks at Universal Press Syndicate, and fan who has a Calvin and Hobbes web site.
