Bradford Pears

Bradford Pear Time

The abundance of both domestic and wild flowers which blossom in the spring and summer in Union County makes our region a beautiful place to live and visit.

Bradford Pears were developed because they have showy blossoms in the spring, but don't develop messy fruit. Modern research has confirmed only the first part of that statement. Cross pollination of different trees can produce fruit - small, but still fruit to fall.

Several years ago Bradford Pears were planted along the streets of downtown El Dorado and a few other places in Union County, beautifying what could otherwise be the less attractive consequences of modern civilization.

Early March is what we might call "Bradford Pear Time." .
